tip no. 50: travel to the city of smiles…

The Masskara Festival in Bacolod is barely two months away.  I availed of the zero-fare promo from Cebu Pacific and got myself a round-trip ticket to the city.  I’m really looking forward to it since it seems like a very lively event.  I’m expecting to see a lot of colorful masks, a grand parade, and crowds of happy people.  No Halloween costumes, I hope.  I’ve been dreaming of horrifying scenarios for several nights now.

tip no. 48: get addicted to crunchyroll!

Whoever created Crunchyroll is a genius. This site was recommended to me by a friend who was so into Korean movies and tv shows. I’m not much of a series fan, nor am I fond of Japanese anime, but I do appreciate free Tagalog films online! Haha. I haven’t watched one in full, though. I just browsed over the list and found a few files from the Philippines. Basically, the format is a little similar to You Tube but focuses on Asian content. It kinda amazes me how fast the loading was. No sweat! ;)

tip no. 45: bring out the Magic Sing!

I miss videoke. Really! I miss hanging out with my girl friends at Red Box, singing our lungs out. Five hours of choosing cheesy sentimental songs over bottles of light beer and the complimentary chips, with a plasma tv, no less! Perfect during those really depressing moments. Been there, done that. Hehe. We have developed our own reportoire over the years, and my all-time favorites are those from the 80’s: The Jets, Tiffany, Debbie Gibson… You name it. Revived at some point, but nothing beats the original, I guess.

Although I love videoke bars, a Magic Sing will do any day! Cheaper too, and you can sing all you want in the comforts of your own home. You can bring it anywhere too! Plug and play.  Just make sure your songs are updated and you’re set for the night! :)

tip no. 44: gather your friends for a slumber party.. :)

If you’re in Manila, you would know that it has been pouring non-stop for the past week. I really don’t like this season in general, but I could still look at it positively by associating rain with a hot cup of coffee, soft pillows, and a comfy couch. It gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling knowing that I can curl up and sleep anytime I want to.

If there is such a thing as “right timing” for being sensitive and emotional about those matters of the heart, then now would probably be the time. Just don’t do it alone. I’m sure a lot of your friends would be more than willing to be each other’s sounding boards. Head off to the grocery and buy some stuff to drink and munch. Purchase several bottles of nail polish or stuff for your hair. Take out your magazines or your magic sing. You can practically convert your room into a entertainment room and/or mini spa! You get my drift.  We tried this ourselves and we loved it! :)

tip no. 43: entertain yourself with photo-editing softwares

Gone are those days when Photoshop was the only thing you could depend on for photo editing. There are a lot of online sites around that allows you to prettify your pictures with just a few clicks. In a span of one week, I was introduced to a number of these sites. A few weeks ago there was Picnik, and I had a lot of fun with it since the effects were so unique. Then just recently, I tried Photofunia, which enables you to put your face on billboards, posters, and even on the silver screen! (Thanks Superboi!) And earlier today, another Multiply friend shared Loonapix with me. It works the same as Photofunia, but with added features such as frames and photo trims!

Trust me, you’ll be distracted for days! Hehe. If you could only see my friends’ Multiply albums. :P

tip no. 42: take advantage of Piso-fare/Php 999 promos!

I received a text message earlier today saying that Cebu Pacific Air is once again promoting cheaper fares through its domestic seat sale from July 24 to 29, 2008. The travel period is anywhere from August 15 to November 30, 2008. If you’re nursing a broken heart, what better way to get away from it all but to travel to our beautiful islands and even abroad!

Aside from local flights, they also have cheap international fares which are available all-year round. One can go to Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Macau, for as low as Php 1,499. It still doesn’t include taxes though. Seats are rather limited so the earlier you book your flight, the better. How I wish they offer the same thing for trips to the U.S. Anyhow, get your passport ready! :)
