Heartbroken or not, I love getting messages. Thai, Swedish, Shiatsu… you name it!
Love problems can both be physically and emotionally draining, and going to a nearby spa (or a massage place) is one of those things that can effectively take the heavy feeling away. Temporarily, at least, and in most cases. We all need to be cared for, and having to pay for it sometimes isn’t such a bad thing. It’s normal. Haha. :P
Forget about your broken heart for a while and take out your most comfortable shoes. Let’s burn some hard earned money! Spend time with yourself, spend some for yourself! :)
If you’re not very particular about brands, and are the type of person whose heart would skip a beat upon hearing the words “dirt cheap”, then Divisoria may just be your (shopping) heaven on earth. Getting there is fairly easy although admittedly, braving the crowded streets of Tabora and Juan Luna isn’t. Taking public transportation is very much recommended, for as long as you can still carry your bags by the time that you’re done. Otherwise, bring your own car but you’ll need lots of luck searching for a very good parking space. Personally, I have always ridden a Divisoria-bound jeepney which you can take anywhere along Taft Avenue, but one can also take the LRT and alight at the Doroteo Jose station. You would still have to ride a jeep though. :P Read the rest of this entry »
One of my biggest frustrations in recent years was having a beach-worthy bod. I’m not really fat, nor am I skinny either. I’m considered thin by most people, averaging from 103-108 lbs at 5′1″. But then again, I’m just part of the 90% or so who have imperfect bodies. Yup, I have curves in the wrong places and I lack fat where it matters. As a result, I have developed this habit of taking out my workout vids a month before a scheduled beach trip. It actually works! And among all my videos, belly dancing was one of the most effective. Don’t worry, you won’t break your backs doing this.
Anyway, this ad that I saw recently in one of the internet forums caught my attention.
I’ve been based in Manila since 1996. I was born and raised in a province that’s approximately three hours away, and going back there is rare these days. I’d like to blame it to the rising bus fare (no thanks to weekly oil price increases), but to tell you the truth, I’ve also been really lazy for the past few months. I do go home during long breaks and weekends, so I’m not all that bad, right?
When I do get the chance, I make it a point to spend time in my own bedroom (I sleep in another room when I’m home =d) and rummage through my old stuff. I have a cabinet full of paper bags from high school and college, containing rich memories from not so long ago. Needless to say, I find enjoyment in sifting through old letters and photographs. Nothing beats the feeling of being nostalgic about the not-so-complicated past. As Peter Pan would say, “Think happy thoughts!” :D Read the rest of this entry »
I’m currently taking a brief break from work by sharing with you this delicious (and super easy) recipe courtesy of a friend. We had a potluck party last month and this is what she brought. Perfect for those I-don’t-wanna-go-out-weekends. Yumyum!
You’ll be needing the following:
1) President Heavy Cream (or whipping cream) - 1 liter
2) Vanilla extract - 1/2 tbsp
3) Unflavored gelatin - 90 gms (Alsa is recommended)
4) Gina Mango juice - 1 can
A lot of times, I had to distract myself from thinking too much. And remembering the things that I did to do so (for no particular reason) brings a smile to my face (and makes me feel ashamed as well, haha). Example? Well, once upon a time, I auditioned to be a dubber at Roadrunner Productions. :P
I have always seen their ads back in college. They were always on the lookout for male and female voice talents. Before I graduated, I copied their number and saved it on my phone for future reference. I wasn’t planning to make a career out of it, as I also didn’t want people to associate me with a cartoon or a telenovela star. However, I did wake up one day wanting to try it out. I got really curious about what goes on in there and so I decided to go for it. I brought a friend with me so I could share with her the experience…and the humiliation. Haha. :D
It was fun! They made us read several spiels (English and Tagalog) and repeated it a couple of times with varying intonations. I had to “act” a little too. Lol. I chose a shampoo commercial for my first audition piece. The second one was for napkins. I never knew if I got a callback since I changed my cellphone number soon after. Nah, as if!
Oh well. I’m not sure if they’re still active like they used to. I googled for the company today but discovered CreatiVoicesinstead. They do the same thing, actually, and more I guess. Just browse their site if you’re interested. :P
